Main Card Predictions: Bellator 85/UFC on FX 7

Welcome back MMA fans, I thought I might go ahead and write two blogs today and get it done!! We have a great weekend of not only the NFL playoffs...GO Pats & Falcons, but a good weekend of MMA Action. We have the long-awaited debut of Bellator MMA on Spike TV tomorrow night (10 p.m. eastern...right after a Triple H/Stephanie McMahon wannabe wedding on Impact Wrestling with Bubba-Ray and Brooke Hogan..gees that will put alot of asses in the seats...NOT!) Anyways..Here are my predictions for the main card of Bellator 85: Light Heavyweight Tournament - Opening Round Renato Sobral vs. Mikhail Zayats I will be personally honest here to everyone...I could really care less who wins this fight!! There is NO way in Hell that either of of these fights will see the finals anyways. If I had to go with one, I will take Mikhail by a decision. Featherweight Title Bout Pat "Paddy Mike" Curran vs. Patricio "The Pitbull" Freire This is a fight that I have been waiting to see for a LONG time! Two AMAZING fighters in the featherweight division and it blows my mind...Why in the hell are these two fighters not in the UFC!! Mr. White, GET off your ass and sign these guys!! Pat Curran has a 17-4 MMA record and is fighting out of his Team Curran Gym in Chicago (along with borther Jeff and Social-Media darling Felice "Lil Bulldog" Herrig) He has won his last four fights is very well-rounded! Mr. Patricio Freire is a DANGEROUS fighter as well! He has a 17-1 MMA record and fight out of the all "In-famous" secret lesbo gym entitled "Team Gayhouse". He has a black-belt in BJJ and is on a 3 fight winning streak!! With "Strong" dislike to Gayhouse aside, I think will be the fight of the Night! I usually like Black Belt in BJJ and I like Freire (alot more than some) in his camp, but I am going to have to go Team Curran (Most underrated camp out there..shout out to you all) and I will take Pat Curran by Decision to retain the belt and hopyfully the UFC will be calling sometime sooner than later!! Lightweight Title Bout Michael Chandler vs. Rick Hawn This will be a match (If you don't like wrestling or judo...you shouldnt watch!) This will be a on-the-mat kind of fight!! Michael Chandler (Champion) has a undefeated 10-0 MMA record and is fighting out of Alliance MMA! He is a Division 1 wrestler (Missouri) and he finished 6 out of his 10 fights in the first round. His biggest victory came on November 19,2011 when he submitted Eddie Alvarez (by Rear Neck Choke). His opponent Rick Hawn is no easy cookie as well!! He was the Bellator Season 6 lightweight tournament winner. He has a 14-1 MMA record. He is currently training with Team Renzo Gracie! He is a black belt in Judo and bring his BJJ up to par rapidly (The Gracies did invent BJJ...right?) He is on a three fight winning streak as well! I like both guys! Both of them have amazing upside, but I think the BJJ game of Chandler is slightly stronger. I am going to take Chandler in the 2nd round by submission (You pick the submission) That was my Bellator Preview for tomorrow night on Spike TC (10pm eastern) Lets now get into my main card predictions for UFC on FX 7!! This card will be live from Brazil this saturday night at 9pm eastern on FX (The prelims start at 6pm eastern...if you care...which I don't) Here are my predictions for the main card for the UFC on FX 7 event: Thiago Tavares vs. Khabib Numagomedov I think this will be a good opening match to get the Brazil fans excited about the card. Thiago has a MMA record of 17-4 and is fighting with Brazilian Top Team. He is a well-rounded fighter and has a 4-1-1 record in his last six fights. His last fight was a decision victory against Sam Stout at UFC 142! Numagomedov is a very talented fighter with awesome upsided! His has a undefeated MMA record of 18-0 and is currently training at AKA!! 5 of his 18 fights have gone to a decision, so he finish fights (10 of 18 fights have been finished in the first round) His last fight was a decision win against Glesion Tibau at UFC 148. This is a toss-up match for me, but I am going with the AKA prospect Nuagomedov in the 3rd round by knockout! Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Ben Rothwell THIS FIGHT SHOULD BE ON THE UNDERCARD!!! First off, Gabriel "I'm too old and rusty" Gonzaga. He has a 13-6 MMA record and is fighting for Team Link (which is a sister Gym of Team Gayhouse" He has a black belt in BJJ and hasa 3-3 record in his last six fights! His last BIG win was all the way back in 2007 against Mirko Crocop. When is this one-time wonder going to call it quits...hopefully after this fight!! His opponent is Ben Rothwell. I have never been a big Ben Rothwell fan, but I hope he knock the F*ck out of this guy to send him back to Brazil! Rothwell has a 32-8 MMA record and is currently training at his own gym, Rothwell MMA! He has horrible submission skills, but AmAzInG knockout power! He has a record of 3-2 in his last five fights! He last fight was at UFC 145 (Here in Atlanta) when he knockout Brendan Schuab!! FYI...Schuab man-handled Gonzaga at UFC 121) I don't think it's a suprise, but I am taking Rothewll by knockout in the first round!! C.B. Dollaway vs. Daniel Sarafian "The Ultimate Fighter" Fight of the night! These two middleweights were former members of the hit reality show (different seasons). C.B. Dollaway has a MMA record of 12-4 and is training at Power MMA (What kind of sorry name is that?) He is a former Division 1 wrestler at Arizona State. He has a 2-2 record in his last four fights. Mr. Daniel Sarafian. Daniel is making his long-awaiting debut in the UFC. He has a MMA record of 7-2 and is currently training at American Top Team in Florida.Something I like (Along with Dana White) is that Daniel finish fights (only 1 of his fights have gone to decision). He is AMAZING on the ground as well (6 submission wins). I respect Daniel's background, but I am going to take C.B by submission in the middle of the 2nd round! MAIN EVENT Michael Bisping vs. Vitor Belfort By the end of 2013, We will be talking about this fight as a potential Fight of the Year contender. I am sooo exciting to see this fight and I know it will deliever as well! For me, Its like seeing The Past vs. The Future!! Let's get into this match! Michael Bisping has a MMA record of 23-4! He is a great striker as well as a wrestler, but he needs to start finshing fights. Everyone been asking (since the Mayhem Miller fight) WHY hasnt Michael got a title shot opportunity? Well for started...because the Silva vs. Sonnen II bout was already booked at that time...you morons!! Secondly, do you actuallt think Mayhem was so impressive that it deserve a title shot? Absolutely not! With Bisping beating Brian Stann at UFC 152, I though he deserved, but Dana White thinks otherwise. He has a 5-1 record in his 6 fights as well! His Opponent. Vitor Belfort (My 2nd favorite fighter of all-time behind Tito Ortiz) has a MMA record of 21-10 and is currently training with the Blackzilians! He has a black belt in BJJ and Judo! He has a 2-2 record in his last four fights (two loses came by Anderson Silva & Jon Jones) He is getting older and does have ten loses, but look at nine of those loses (Jones, Silva, Henderson, two times vs Overeem, two times against Courture, Liddell, Ortiz) When his fighting days are done, he will go down as been one of the top 10 best fighters of all-time!! (If you disagree...you are more of a moron than I thought) I like the out-spoken and talent level of Bisping, but I been a Vitor fan for as long as I can remember!! Vitor is not a "young stud" and I think its time to past the torch to another soon-to-be-champion. With that said..I am taking Michael Bisping in middle of the third round by Knockout!! Those are my predictions for the Bellator 85 card (Tomorrow night) and the UFC on FX 7 card (this saturday night) Do you think you can out-due my picks..send me an email at kurtscourt@gmail.com with your picks!! If you beat me, I will give you a shout out to you on my next MMA blog!! Until than, "Be an Asshole about something" - THE MMA Asshole!!
