UFC on Fox 6 Predictions

What't going on MMA Fans! THE ASSHOLE IS BACK for my second blog this week. Bellator 86 last night was a great show!! I went 4-1 (which is good for me in Bellator fights) A special congrats to ATT Gwinnett & Atlanta own Douglas Lima on his second round TKO (Unbelivable kicks to the shin of Michail) Enough about Bellator...This blog is my main card predictions for this Saturday night UFC on Fox 6 event from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois! I love this main card (a mixture of hungry young guys as well as some season vets of the sport) Let's get into it: Featherweight Bout "New Breed" Eric Koch vs. "The Bully Richardo Lamas When I first looked at the matchup I thought..Mis-match (Favor Koch), but after doing some research on Lamas..He is a tough and interested fighter in the featherweight division. Eric Koch has a 13-1 MMA record and is training out of Roufussport. He has a combine record record (in WEC & UFC) of 5-1. He has good striking ability, but his ground game is subpar at best. In his last fight, he defeated "The Sideshow Bob of the UFC" Jonathan Brookins by decision. Richardo Lamas has a MMA record of 12-2 and is fighting out of MMA Masters. He has a wrestling & BJJ background as well as being a Division 3 wrestler in college. He has a 3-1 record in his last 4 fights. In his last fight, he defeated Hatsu Hioki by decision. If this fight stays standing, I will give the edge to Eric, but I think Lamas is too strong and will be able to take Eric down with easy. This fight will not go to a decision (at least I hope not). I have Lamas in the late 2nd round by submission. Lightweight Bout "Showtime Anthony Pettis vs. "Cowboy" Donald Cerrone I am already calling this will be the "fight of the night"!! I am soo exciting to see this fight on free TV. This has a PPV hype behind this fight for personal reasons (if you don't know the backstory...google it) Anthony Pettis comes into this fight with a 15-2 MMA record and is training with Roufussport as well. He has a black belt in Taekwondo and has a 3-1 record in his last four fights. He had a close decision lost to Clay Guida at the Ultimate Fighter Finale 13 (Summer of 2011), but since than he has beating contenders Jeremy Stephens and knockout "Mr.Bonus" Joe Lauzon (at UFC 144) He has also beaten Ben Henderson as well (Yes...Ben Henderson is the 2012 fighter of the year. regardless of what George Kennebrew says...I'm joking man!!) Donald Cerrone has a 19-4 MMA record and is fighting out of Jackson's Submission. He has a kickboxing & BJJ background. He has a 4-1 record in his last 5 fights as well as 10 of his 19 wins have came in the first round. In last fight, he defeated Melvin Guilard by KO at UFC 150. All I got to say is this bout is a toss-up to me!!If the fight goes to the ground, I think Cerrone will take it; however; I think Pettis' striking is much more dominant than Cerrone!! Both of there kickboxing is two of the best in the division (along with Champion Ben Henederson) I am going to have take Pettis here by a decision. If Pettis does win..Pettis vs. Henderson/Gilbert winner...make it happen Dana!! Light Heavyweight Bout Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira Before I start previewing this bout, all I can say is I'm a Rampage fan (Always have) How could you not be a Rampage fan? His mouth-dropping wrestling slams in Pride were incrediable! Do I think he is past his prime of being able to fight against these guys? Absolutely!! His last impressive victory came in 2007, when he knockout Chuck Liddell in the first round/ Rampage will go down as being one of the top 5 best Light Heavyweights of all time ( have a better UFC record than Courture, Ortiz, and Liddell) Let's get into the bout! Rampage is coming in with a 32-10 MMA record with a 2-2 record in his last 4 fights. His wrestling and striking is still good, but not as good like in his "prime" days. Glover Teixeria has a 19-2 MMA record and is training at "The Pit". He has a blackbelt in BJJ and 14 of his 19 wins have came in the first round. My common sense pick would tell me to pick Glover for two reasons: younger and has the drive, but I can't go against Rampage! I am going to take Rampage in the late 2nd round by ground & pound. (George Kennebrew...I hope you still have faith in Rampage...because I do) FYI to Rampage, when you win these bout..please retire! You have nothing else to prove in this sport!! You will be an UFC Hall of Famer for sure!! Flyweight Title Bout "Mighty Mouse" Demetrious Johnson vs. "The Magician" John Dodson I am being honest...I am not a big fan of the "Joel Brock Division" that is 125lbs, but this fight is going to be AMAZING!! Mighty Mouse is coming in with a 16-2 MMA record and has a wrestling background. He has a record of 2-1-1 in his last four fights. This is a FUN fact..Johnson hasnt finished a fight since November 11,2010 against Damacio Page at WEC 52. In his last fight, he defeated "Mr Overrated" Joseph Benavidez by spilt decision at UFC 152. "The Magician" John Dodson is a Ultimate Fighter Alumni and is coming into this fight with a 14-5 MMA record. He is training in Mew Mexico at Jackson Submission. He is a well-rounded fighter with good striking ability and a ground game that is getting alot better!! He is on a five fight winning streak. In his last fight, he defeated Jussier Formiga by TKO!! I like both guys fighting abilities and of course nicknames, but I am going to take "Might Mouse" by knockout in the 3rd round to keep his flyweight champion. Those are my picks for this Saturday Night card on Fox! Send me your thoughts at kurtscourt@gmail.com as well as find me on twitter and facebook!! Until the next blog.."Be an asshole at something you know" -THE MMA ASSHOLE!!
